Any excuse for Chinatown. We came, we lunched, we watched the parade, which was heralded by smoke and firecrackers. Everyone was ox-cited to usher in the New Year in style!! Fortunately, I did not make that joke up. The first time I celebrated Chinese New Year in February was at Texas A&M University with my Singaporean grad student friend Minhao and his bunch of Chinese girlfriends. We did the boil water in a pot and cook dumplings thing. Come to think of it, Chris and I did that in December in Beijing. My, how we come full circle. And to circle off this post, I’ll note that the guy in the first photo came over and took my hand before miming his way up the street.
