Coffee?

Isaac and Dad, Kyoto Station, October 2011
Leaf-viewing autumn latte

I read recently that women who drink four cups of coffee a day are 80 percent less likely to be depressed (just another statistic from my database of unsubstantiated research). That sounded good to me, even though I am not depressed. Now, not only am I not depressed, but I also feel more focused after the 3pm coffee break. Case in point: we skipped the 3pm coffee today, et voila—the laundry did not get folded (French ‘what can you do?’ shrug).

Anyway, between our hotel and Kyoto Station last October was this tasty cafe where we had breakfast every morning and sometimes an afternoon latte as well. Two maiko, maple leaves in a foamy heart, and down in Nara, a big Buddha coffee! Did we return day after day because the coffee was so good, or because we wanted to sip all the cute designs? Very cute, no?
