It’s our last night at our Norfolk home. I thought I’d feel sadder, or at least nostalgic. Instead, there’s a mystery soggy spot spreading near the AC in the attic and 500 flies and mosquitos inside buzzing the kitchen windows.
Our last few weeks have been a time of rest and chaos. Chris’ sister Melissa came for a weekend and got to see Chris’ ship, plus our favorite Pier restaurant on the Chesapeake.
I got caught in some flash flooding on my scooter. Extremely scary. Isaac had his first optometry appointment after telling me he could see better squinting. But no worries: 20/20. Wow! I almost cried. I’ve never left the optometrist or the dentist without a long list of annoying follow ups.
I drove to Richmond to do some interviews for an article I’m working on. It was fun having a little pre-road trip before our big upcoming transcontinental journey.
We had friends in town. We said our goodbyes. We did moving stuff. We sold Chris’ car.
Today, the packers finished packing, Chris was rung off the ship (LT Krueger departing! Ding ding!), and half our stuff got carted off in crates. Tomorrow we finish and turn in our house keys!
