Where Globe-Trotting meets Beach-Combing

Australian Wildlife—East Coast

This is a sampling of fauna I saw in and around Sydney just hanging out, not in a preserve or zoo or anything. Surprise—it’s all different! I saw parrots along the cliffs and near Mrs. Mcquarie’s chair. And here’s a nice cormorant drying its wings after a dip. Looks vaguely Little Mermaid-esqe, doesn’t it? Hannie, name that scene! Crazy cockatoo parade grounds near the Lions’ Gate in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

All the animals looked like drawings out of those old flora/fauna books.

Yeah, no close-ups of the bats.

For this duck and especially the seagulls (not pictured here) their eyes looked strikingly different from the Americans’.

By the time we arrived to question the suspect, we were too late….
