I don’t have anything to say
Just photos of a lovely day
Of koi and petals on the stream
Birds overhead who chirp and sing
The river smell pervades the air
The chilly breeze runs through my hair
Petals carpeting the banks
Walking dogs declaring rank
It’s early and kids head for school
Another year of class and rules
Beginning now in this first week
Though some look too young to speak
All smiles and laughter in yellow hats
Waving and calling to my window cats
Chattering as they walk along
Trying to beat the ‘go to work’ song
The music chimes—that means it’s eight
Time to get home or I’ll be late
Driving off to English class
I’m glad this season’s not my last
I told Chris that in a year
I’ll be glued to the river here
For every moment of blossoming
From buds to flowers to leaves of green
I’ll watch and walk through in delight
From light of dawn til dark of night
Next year’s cherry blossoms in the sun
Will mean our tour here is almost done
