Passport Diaries

Where Globe-Trotting meets Beach-Combing

June 19, 2014 transit

Midnight in Bolivia

Midnight Eastern Time is when we landed and finally cleared immigration. The flight went smoothly. People were chatting warmly and moving around the whole flight—very different from most flights I’ve been on. Santi joined me in my seat to revisit the article on barnyard animals.

The plane cheered when a flight attendant announced Anita’s birthday. Helado con dulce!

Tired baby all zonked for landing.

We were all ready for some sleep, but relief and joy radiated from Anita. Home on her birthday was the best present, she had said through tears earlier in the day.
Now we are about to take her, Santi, and their 50 bags HOME about an hour from here!
