Lunch in Lana’i

Happy Independence Day from Lana’i! We arrived in Maui last night and took the Expedition passenger ferry from Lahaina to Lana’i this morning. Like old whalers and missionaries from the 1800s, we enjoyed sailing through the Lahaina Roads and seeing these islands from the sea.

Rainbows danced in the spray the boat sent flying. Bright blue flying fish leapt out of the boat’s wake. From the top we could see Oahu, Moloka’i, Lana’i, Maui, Kaho’olawe and the Big Island. Six of eight main Hawaiian Islands! Chris got calls about a work emergency and dealt with it before we docked in Lana’i. We waved to Sweetheart Rock, hit Hulopo’e Beach, then had fish tacos for lunch by the water. Now back to Lahaina for fireworks!
